Move Therapy and Wellness is a lifestyle practice that focuses on the Mind, Body and Spirit.  
With the belief that feelings of self-doubt, dissatisfaction, emptiness, instability, worry, unhappiness, uncertainty,
relationship issues or simply the desire for “more,” stem from
the need for physical, emotional, spiritual, social and
environmental balance, Move Therapy and Wellness provides therapy services that focus on the mind body connection. 

Our Team

 

Laura is the founder of Move Therapy and Wellness and is a Licensed Clinical

Social Worker and Registered Yoga Teacher with experience in working with children, teens, young adults and families. Laura has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Illinois and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. She has 17 years of combined academic, professional and clinical training and counseling experience.

 Laura specializes in treating individuals who are experiencing chronic stress, depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, emotional distress related to chronic illness and perinatal mood disorders including post-partum depression.  She is successful in helping people feel better about themselves, set and achieve goals, build or rebuild healthy relationships, work through challenges and design a path that will get them to where they want to be.

She holds certifications in the treatment of perinatal mood disorders, depression and anxiety, yoga-informed psychotherapy, Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy (TIYT), holistic and nutrition education and coaching and extensive training in mindfulness based stress reduction.

Stephanie Pinsler, LPC, E-RYT
Stephanie is a staff therapist and yoga teacher at Move Therapy and Wellness. She is a Licensed Psychotherapist, sport psychology consultant, and experienced yoga instructor with an additional certification in Mind Body Exploration. Stephanie earned her Master's degree in Counseling with a specialization in Sport and Health psychology from Adler University in Chicago.  Stephanie has been teaching yoga for 7 years and has 8 years combined academic, professional, and counseling experience.  Stephanie's warm personality, style, and abundant skill set, creates a holistic and enjoyable form of intervention for all clients. 

Through a variety of therapeutic techniques including strengths based model, yogic tools, performance psychology, and mindfulness based stress reduction, Stephanie treats a range of clients from those who are simply looking to feel better to those who want to achieve optimal levels of performance in their career. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and eating disorders.  Stephanie is successful in helping individuals who are struggling with life transitions, relationship issues, and overcoming setbacks (including injury). In addition, she assists those who are looking to improve performance, set and achieve goals, maintain routines, and gain a positive sense of self.    

   Stephanie Pinsler, LPC, E-RYT

Stephanie works with individuals, couples, and groups. She also leads a variety of yoga based workshops and classes that combine psychotherapy techniques, advanced breathing techniques, and mindfulness meditation. This unique style assists in treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, unresolved trauma, and maternal anxiety or depression. In addition, she has a special interest in working with individuals and groups with high performance careers including athletes, musicians, and physicians.

Megan Schnell, LCSW, RYT 200

Megan is a staff therapist, yoga teacher at Move Therapy and Wellness. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Registered Yoga Teacher.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Purdue University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a specialization in mental health from Loyola University Chicago.  Megan specializes in treating individuals who are experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and mood disorders. She has 10 years of combined academic, professional, and counseling experience.

Megan believes that no one is born knowing how to deal with unexpected trauma, especially sexual violence. Megan brings an empathetic, intuitive approach to therapy. She creates a safe and open space for exploration while giving you the tools for self-regulation. Through a variety of therapeutic strategies, including trauma-informed, strengths-based, acceptance commitment and mindfulness interventions, she helps her clients to gain insight and understanding into their mind-body connection, personal struggles, thought and behavior and relationship patterns.

Megan works with individuals, couples, and groups.  She also leads a variety of yoga based workshops and classes that combine psychotherapy, mindfulness and yoga techniques.  She incorporates mindfulness based therapy techniques including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, meditation and yoga into sessions and provides clients with practical mindfulness based tools to use in everyday life.  She has experience and training in treating children and adolescents and women who have experienced traumatic birth, perinatal loss and postpartum depression.  

Sarah Buividas, LCPC, CYT 200

Sarah is a staff therapist at Move Therapy and Wellness and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Yoga Teacher.  She has experience working with adults and families and specializes in treating individuals who are experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, mood disorders and addictions.  Sarah has a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Lewis University.  She has 9 years of combined academic, professional and wellness industry experience as well as 4 years of experience teaching vinyasa yoga and is currently the program director of an Opioid Treatment Program in Chicago.

Sarah believes that the foundation of mental health begins with balancing the fundamentals of nutrition, sleep and stress management.  She is passionate about helping clients to approach therapy from a holistic perspective in order to guide them in embracing the joys and struggles of their journey and to find value in their successes.

Sarah pulls therapeutic techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness and yoga to help clients move towards increasing harmony within mind, body and spirit. Sarah is successful in helping clients struggling with life transitions, anxiety, addictions, relationships and job challenges.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys working out, skiing, cooking, connecting with nature and spending time with her family.

 

 

Ashley is a staff therapist at Move Therapy and Wellness and a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor and is currently a PhD candidate in Counselor Education & Supervision at Adler University. Ashley holds a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling with a specialization in Sports Psychology & Performance from Adler University and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Tougaloo College.  Additionally, Ashely has extensive cultural and mental health training from the countries of France and Costa Rica.

Ashley has a passion for working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, mood disorders, relationship struggles and individuals who have experienced trauma.  She specializes in athletic/performance psychology and enhancement, and addictions (​including but not limited to alcohol, opioids and marijuana)​.  Ashley is dedicated to helping individuals find and live in their purpose as well as in guiding them to be optimal versions of their true and authentic self. 

Ashley Lewis, LPC, PhDc, NCC

Ashley uses a variety of integrative and holistic/wholistic approaches with all clients, from traditional therapeutic modalities to BrainSpotting, and Spirituality.  Ashley's work and relationships with clients is authentic and collaborative, with the client's best interest at heart. ​Her passion and knowledge of holistic approaches to mental health and her understanding of culture, social justice, and athletics allows her to advocate for those in need of support, services or education.  Ashley works with individuals, groups, sports teams and in the corporate setting.

   Ashley Lewis,  LPC, PhDc, NCC

Ashley’s athletic and performance background is rooted in the sports of Basketball, Soccer, and Classical Vocal Performance. She is a fitness and nutritional enthusiast, living over 10 years as a vegetarian and plant-based consumer.

Amy believes that bringing mindful awareness to our physical bodies as well as our mental state is essential for long-term wellness. Her therapeutic approach is informed by evidence-based practices including mindfulness based strategies, acceptance commitment therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. She regularly incorporates meditation and yoga into sessions in order to explore the relationship between the mind and body and move toward a place of self-compassion and body acceptance. 

 

 

 

Amy is a staff psychotherapist and yoga teacher at Move Therapy and Wellness.  She has experience in working with individuals, couples, families and groups and has extensive training in treating eating disorders and mood disorders as well as in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, depression, body image distress, relationship problems and unresolved trauma. 

 

Amy holds a masters degree from St Louis University and has 8 years of combined

academic, professional and yoga/meditation experience.  She believes in the importance of meeting you where you are; Providing a safe space for self-exploration and guidance in gaining insight into developing healthy coping skills to handle whatever challenges clients may be facing.

Lauren is a staff therapist at Move Therapy and Wellness. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Iowa and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, with a specialization in rehabilitation counseling from Adler University in Chicago. Lauren has 8 years of combined academic and professional counseling experience.

She has extensive experience in helping clients who experience anxiety, depression, chronic pain, trauma, and adjustment difficulties. She values utilizing mindfulness as a strategy for grounding, and pulls from various techniques such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to provide clients with the optimal tools and skills to reach their greatest potential

She utilizes a strengths-based approach along with gratitude practices to help people increase their ability to gain internal validation. Her empathetic and relaxed nature helps to create a safe, therapeutic space for clients to process their experiences and gain insight in order to deepen their relationship with themselves and with others.

Macauley Cliffe, LSW, CYT

Macauley is a staff therapist and yoga teacher at Move Therapy and Wellness. She is a Licensed Social Worker, Registered Yoga Teacher, and has completed her Level 1 Training as a Gottman Couples Therapist. She has experience working with children, teens, adults, and families. She holds her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration and has 7 years combined academic, professional, and clinical experience working with and treating individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, substance use disorders, relationship struggles, mood disorders, as well as personal problems and stress-related symptoms.

 

Macauley believes that the mind-body connection is one of the most essential paths to healing and seeks to use this as her guiding principle in working with clients. She draws from different therapeutic techniques including strengths-based, trauma-informed, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and yoga to create an open and nonjudgmental space where clients can guide their own self-determined path to healing.

Macauley works with individuals, couples, and groups and works alongside her clients to support their journey. She employs breath work, yoga, mindfulness, and other therapeutic techniques to get clients in touch with their most important values, develop a deeper mind-body connection and relationship with themselves, and identify their inner-most strengths and emotions to define and create a fulfilling life.

Stephanie has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Indiana University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Northwestern University. Stephanie has 6 years combined academic, professional, and counseling experience. 

 

Stephanie Rotman, LCPC, RYT-200, TIYT

Stephanie utilizes an eclectic approach that integrates mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed, somatic, and psychodynamic approaches to help her clients find balance, increased self-awareness, and holistic healing. Stephanie specializes in treating individuals who are experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), life transitions, mood disorders, and adjustment disorders. Stephanie has a special interest in working with individuals with chronic pain, trauma, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, and anxiety.

Stephanie believes that everyone can benefit from therapy in some way. She uses an empathic, strengths-based, person-centered stance that draws upon her client’s inherent strengths to help them recover and grow from adversity. She helps her clients uncover underlying thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to difficulties they are facing.

 

Stephanie works with individuals and groups. She leads a variety of classes and workshops that utilize yoga, mindfulness, and holistic healing.

 

Stephanie is a staff therapist at Move Therapy and Wellness.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Yoga Teacher.  Stephanie has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Illinois State University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University Chicago.  She specializes in treating individuals who are experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, complex trauma history, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and mood disorders.  Stephanie has 5 years combined academic, professional, and counseling experience.

Stephanie believes that clarity and ease can come from connecting the mind, body and spirit.  She utilizes various mindfulness techniques such as gentle yoga, meditation and progressive muscle relaxation to help clients gain insight in the mind-body connection, regulate emotions, manage challenges and better understand themselves.  In addition to mind body based approaches, Stephanie uses a variation of techniques including; Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Stephanie's approach is warm, supportive and insightful.  She meets client where they are and provides a safe space to explore struggles, discover strengths and guide in self-discovery and personal growth.  Stephanie works with children, teens, adults and families and leads a variety of therapeutic classes and workshops for children, teenagers and adults at Move Therapy and Wellness.
